" 1 June 1970: Marine loss -Ennerdale (2) - this mobile reserve tanker was outward bound from Port Victoria, struck a submerged object, later described as an uncharted granite pinnacle; ship abandoned, no casualties reported; sank position 04.29.36S 55.31.32E (230 degrees 1.25 miles off Mamelle Light, Seychelles); neither the vessel nor her cargo of thousands of tons of fuel oil was salvaged; one RN frigate, one submarine and four RFAs stood by to deal with the oil pollution."
