Things did not go smoothly for 5 Brigade. Following 2 Para's sudden and unplanned move, the Navy was obliged to improvise a sea route to bring up the rest of the brigade.
Bluff Cove is a shallow loch accessible only to landing craft. The media decided the name was more dramatic than Fitzroy or Port Pleasant and used it to describe all further events in this area.
The distance from San Carlos made it difficult for ships to load by day and make the passage under cover of darkness.
Given the prevailing overcast weather, the Amphibious Commander authorised one landing at Bluff Cove but thereafter directed that all further landings should be at Fitzroy which offered some better protection. The weather cleared on 8 June.
