Sir Galahad took part in the Falklands campaign, sailing from Devonport on 6 April and entering San Carlos Water on 21 May. On 24 May 1982 she was attacked by Skyhawks and was hit by one 1000 pound bomb which did not detonate. Following its removal, together with Sir Percivale she carried out supply runs to Teal Inlet. On 8 June 1982 she was bombed and badly damaged with great loss of life at Fitzroy (Not Bluff Cove!). She was sunk as a war grave on 25 June 1982 by HMS Onyx. A new ship bearing this name was launched on 25 November 1987.
